Chapter Seven – A Legendary Is Born
July 14, 2009 by speckypeck
Fantastic news! Jamie is pregnant!

I pick her up from work early today. Jamie isn’t feeling very well. The doctor says she may have to take a break from working until after the baby is born. I earn enough from the lab so that Jamie can go on unpaid leave. I’m still seething about my stolen business venture though.

Jamie and I talk about our plans for the future. Jamie wishes to finish working at the hospital, stay home and become a fulltime mother. I will continue to persevere at the lab and pursue my career with the promotions and bonuses that will follow. We are both eagerly anticipating parenthood.

Jamie is growing in size so quickly. The doctor says everything is going well. We’ve decided not to know the gender of the baby until birth. It must be any day now.

The baby is on its way!!!

I get the suitcase that was packed for when the baby arrives and take Jamie to the hospital in a cab. Jamie is in a gasping state of distress. She screams that the pain is excruciating and pleads for someone to make it stop. I try and console Jamie and encourage her to be strong that she can endure the pain. But what do I know about labour pains? I’m a man.
Poor sweet Jamie; the agony lasts another 18 hours before our baby is born.

A boy! We have a beautiful healthy baby boy!
Seeing my son and holding him in my arms for the first time will be one of those memories that stay with me forever. Jamie rests, weary from her drawn out ordeal relieved that it is over. Before she drifts off to sleep she looks at me and mouths the words I love you.
I love you too my sweetheart.
Fear, wonder and awe. Fear of the dangers, the sorrows our son may face; Wonder of whether I will be a good father to give him strength; Awe in the miracle that is life.
We name him Adam and love him dearly. My family grows and so does the happiness in my heart.

To be continued…

Awww, and baby makes three.
I love the second picture–it looks like she’s doing the “I have to pee!” dance.
Just wanted to say that I absolutely love your legacy. Your writing style and picturing-taking skills completely amaze me.
Good job!
It’s been a learning process. Thanks for your comment
